Masonry Veneer over Continuous Insulation (CI) combines the aethestics of tile, brick and stone with the performance of CI. Masonry Veneer over CI can wrap almost any structure in a blanket of insulation. This allows building owners to acheive the look and feel they desire, yet enjoy the operating benefits of low energy costs. CI includes a liquid applied water resistive barrier (WRB) and air barrier. The use of a liquid applied WRB is superior to paper based WRBs because there are no rips or tears, thus providing a continuous layer of moisture protection. Furthermore, the liquid applied WRBs act as an air barrier.
